What exactly are PlC Colleges?

All PLC course offer three elements: general education, specific skills and knowledge of the course area, and prepartation for work and work experience.   PLC will offer courses in areas from business, engineering, childcare, boat building, Montessori education, nursing studies, medical and legal secretarial studies, hotel and catering, sports science, architectural studies, art and design, beauty therapy, alternative health therapies, interior design, computing, to name just some of the areas.   Most courses will award qualification from FETAC (Further Educaiton and Training Awards Council). Students can use thier qualifications to go directly into employment or progress into third level colleges. When applying with CAO you must mark FETAC section.  In 2007 over six thousand FETAC students applied to the COA.
