Third language and Science degree

NUI Senate has approved of the removal of the third language requirement for entry to all science degree programmes – this will take effect for CAO applications for entry in 2008.

Is there a central applications system for colleges of PLC courses?

No.  Applicants must apply directly to each college.  Applications to all PLC colleges will begin after the 1st of Feb – some will take applicants even before this date.  Applicants will be accepted up to August, it is always a good idea to apply early to ensure your place as the more popular courses fill quickly

Are points required for PLC courses?

No.  Most PLC courses are open to applicants with a basic Leaving Certificate.  Applicants to some courses may be asked to meet minimum entry requirements of specific Leaving Certificate results.

PLC Colleges of further education usually conduct interviews for all courses, and applicants are given an opportunity to talk about themselves and to say why the course interests them.
