The Spiders Fusion Awards will launch later this month, and will place a particular emphasis on student led initiatives that aim to disrupt current technology trends and advance innovation in media, digital and technology.

The awards are an extension of the eircom Spiders Awards Programme which has been awarding technology excellence for more than 20 years across the business community and in schools with the Junior Spiders.

Mr English, who is Minister for Skills, Research and Innovation, said: “Growing the number of successful entrepreneurs and start-ups is, and will continue to be, hugely important for Ireland’s continued economic development and growth. I commend programmes like the Fusion Spider Awards that play a vital role in engaging with young people and help to foster an environment of innovation and entrepreneurship.”

The awards aim to celebrate innovation and digital excellence and start-up endeavours across third level educational institutions in Ireland.

Students, companies, and college societies across all third level institutions in Ireland will be eligible to enter the national awards programme and can register their interest at http://www.thefusionawards.com.
