Changes at NCAD

From September 2013 NCAD will have 4 routes of entry through the CAO:
AD101 First Year Art & Design (Common Entry) – restricted / NCAD Portfolio Brief
AD202 Design or Fine Art & Education – restricted / NCAD Portfolio Brief
AD212 Product Design – restricted / portfolio + interview
AD215 Visual Culture – not restricted, offers based on Leaving Cert points
The 3 year degree structure will be standard, there will be a number of 4 year options:
Education (Second Level Teaching) 4 Year Joint Honours degree with either Design or Fine Art.
Joint Honours in Design or Fine Art and Visual Culture, a 4 year option chosen at the end of 2
BA International, a 4 year option chosen at the end of 2
year when a student opts for an
Erasmus year abroad.
NCAD is introducing a new degree in Visual Culture (AD215) in 2013, (History of Art & Design)
this is not a restricted course and does not require a portfolio submission. Offers will be based on
Leaving Cert points.
Portfolio for AD101First Year Art & Design and AD202 Design or Fine Art & Education due 8
Portfolio review + Interview for AD212 Product Design held in April. Maths requirement for
Product Design is OC3.
Open Day 2012
Thursday 6 December – visitors should arrive between 9.30a.m. and 2.30pm. All welcome.
A lunch-time information session for art teachers and guidance counsellors will be held 12.45 on the
same day with a light lunch provided. No booking required and all welcome.
Portfolio Brief 2013– Information Sessions
Portfolio Brief Information sessions for interested pupils and their art teachers.
Session 1 – Saturday 3 November 2pm – 4pm
Session 2 – Tuesday 6 November 6.30pm – 8.30pm
Session 3 – Wednesday 7 November 6.30pm – 8.30pm
