700 new jobs

Posted by Francis O' Toole on November 2, 2012

McDonald’s Ireland is to create 700 new jobs over the next three years through the opening of 12 new restaurants around the country and an investment of over €20m.

The announcement was made as Minister of State for Small Business John Perry TD opened the latest restaurant in Airside, Co Dublin, which has created 82 jobs, bringing total employment in Ireland to 4,054.

The 12 new restaurants will be in Dublin and locations such as Kilkenny, Ballina and Kildare Village. McDonald’s is actively looking at locations for the remaining restaurants and a number of sites are currently under consideration.

Recently, McDonald’s have been awarded one of the Best Places to work in Ireland, for a seventh year running. “We pride ourselves on our training and development, competitive pay and flexible hours”

The Minister commented: “McDonald’s is not only directly creating a very significant number of jobs in the food service industry, it is also helping to secure jobs and create employment indirectly, through the Irish goods and services it purchases for domestic use and for export.

“Many of McDonald’s restaurants are operated by franchisees who are small business owners and who, working with McDonald’s, have developed successful business while creating jobs in their communities across the country.”
