Following on from the success of previous years Career Fairs, the Trinity College Careers Week will be held from 1st October to the 5th October this year. The programme offers students an opportunity to get an insight into a range of sectors and most importantly to meet with graduates and employers. Making contacts within organisations is crucial to finding work in these challenging times. The programme includes an Industry Insights Day, an Employer Skills Day and a Postgraduate Study Day & CV Clinic. Careers Week is followed the following week by employer fairs and more CV Clinics on campus and at the RDS. Topics that will be covered at the Industry Insights Day that might be of interest to your students include entrepreneurship, journalism, NGO & development, museums, marketing, translation, ICT and pharmaceutical and bio-industry related areas. At the Employer Skills Day students have an opportunity to get a full overview of the applications process, through employer led workshops on CVs and online profiles, application forms, interview skills and leveraging social media. The Postgraduate Study Day will cover entry into medicine, accountancy and teaching professions and postgraduate research. Students can get feedback on their CV at the Drop-In CV Clinic on Monday 1st October. The TCD Law Fair will take place on campus in the Atrium on Tuesday 9th October and a range of organisations will also participate in the Graduate Careers Fair held in the RDS on Wednesday 10th October including marketing, consultancy, retail, technology, FMCG, etc and course providers. A full list of Careers Week events can be found at http://www.tcd.ie/Careers/events It is also on Facebook and your department will also receive hard-copy posters for your notice boards. We would really appreciate it if you could publicise the programme to your students by email and at lectures, and also to your colleagues. The programme is targeted mainly at Sophister and Postgraduate students, but all students and recent graduates are welcome. Careers Week is run by the Careers Advisory Service with the active support of the Students’ Union and Graduate Students’ Union and sponsored by Deloitte.
