Irish Stars to attract investment
Wednesday, March 14, 2012
Actress Saoirse Ronan is backing a new job-creation strategy to attract investment from abroad.
Ms Ronan and Michael Flatley are among the stars backing the Succeed in Ireland initiative, launched yesterday. The idea centres on Irish people using their family connections abroad to promote the country as a place to do business.
Taxback.com entrepreneur Terry Clune will run the scheme through his new firm, ConnectIreland, which is endorsed by the Government and the IDA.
Mr. Clune wants people across the country to use their contacts abroad to help create jobs.
For every job created, there is a financial reward of €1,500 for the person who makes the introduction. Ms Ronan appears on a video advertising the job strategy, saying: “Let them (your contacts) know we’re looking for companies thinking of expanding into Europe.”
Jobs Minister Richard Bruton said the idea presented a “fantastic opportunity.”
